It’s Fall Ya’ll!

Well hello my blogging friends… long, okay really long time no see!  I am {as usual} busier than ever… but things should start slowing down just a tad around here in the next few weeks.  It seems things haven’t stopped since I got back from South Africa in August, but there are plenty of reasons why.  Some really good reasons in fact!

After arriving back in the states from a 2 month long summer adventure abroad, I literally took 1 day for myself and hit the ground running the very next day to start setting up my classroom.  Then, I attended 2 weeks worth of teacher training, spent the last weekend of August in Seattle, and then, school started… both the teaching kind and grad school.  Luckily, this is my last year of grad school as I will be graduating in May with my Masters of Reading Education and I cannot wait!!

Just a couple weeks after school started, Danny and I moved into the house we had been building since the start of summer.  {Sorry… no pictures other than the one below just yet.}  I had this thought in my mind that moving would be quick and easy, just like all of the other times we’ve moved, but this time, things didn’t go exactly as planned.  The process was much slower than I had anticipated.  It took us a little over a month to get all of our stuff out of the old house and into the new.  We are still working on setting it all up.  :( But this house is much larger than the one we have been renting.  So after we got all of our furniture that we wanted to keep into the new house, we are now left with some empty spaces to fill with new furniture.  And due to the fact that furniture can be pricey, this process may take us a few more months to complete.  Not the time frame I was hoping for, but no sense in rushing the process and being unhappy with a possible rash decision later.  I want to get it right the first time.  :)

On top of school starting back up and the move into our new home, Danny and I also got some great news after we returned from our weekend trip to Seattle… we are pregnant!  Yep, that’s right.  This little lady is trading in her many hats for a new one next May… mommy.  :)  Everything has been pretty easy so far, except for 2 1/2 weeks during the middle of the first trimester.  Three days before we were scheduled to move, my non-stop nausea set in which is probably a HUGE reason why our move took longer than I expected.  I was pretty much worthless.  :(  Danny and his parents took care of everything while I lay in bed feeling 50 shades of green.  And while the feelings progressed up until week 9, Danny continued to take care of everything around the house while I did nothing but go to work, class, and sleep.  Now, feeling more like myself again, I have moved into a nesting phase and can’t wait to get this house put together before Baby D arrives!

baby announcement

{The left photo is how I announced it at work.  Sadly, no one got that my book character costume was also a pregnancy announcement.  Oh well.  Luckily, they all got it once I spelled it out for them on facebook!  The right photo is our little baby at 13 weeks.}

Anyways, so life has been super busy at the Dyer household.  But I have not forgotten about my blog world.  I’ve got a few posts in the making with a couple extras brewing inside my brain.  Since I have taken a personal day for myself today, my number 1 priority was to get this post written.  :)  So, without further ado, I simply wanted to stop in today to share some of my favorite Pinterest-inspired fall decorating ideas… especially since the weather here in Austin has been pretty nice these past couple of weeks!
